Muslim Changemakers Course: Leadership Through Training

MADE in 2016 partnered with Ebrahim College to develop the Muslim Changemakers course: leadership through campaigning. This course was supported and heavily subsidised by the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust.

MADE has runs two versions for three different groups of people:

  • Comprehensive: 20-30 hours – for Islamic trainee scholars (in their place of learning); and for the general public (evening course)
  • Abridged: one day or two day course – for university Islamic Society students.

The course covers:

  • developing a vision (including the Islamic perspective; and why we need change-makers)
  • planning a campaign (campaigning skills, community organising tools)
  • getting people on board (media and leadership skills)

IMPACT SO FAR

Almost 10,000 pupils have taken part in our assemblies and workshops to date. 98% of young people we worked with learnt something new from the resources and sessions they were given on various topics. Additionally, over 80% of young people felt inspired by what they had learnt to make a personal change in their life.
